In Santiago, we got front row seats to one of the best circus acts ever in the backyard of Josie's sister, Lele's house. Lele invited her very strong/tough/brave Haitian friends over to pull down the coconuts from her very mature coconut tree in her backyard. It was quite a sight seeing Caco and his buddies climb the very tall tree, coconuts flying everywhere, Dominican woman barking orders, and a very large machete swinging just feet from the kids. And the taste of a fresh coconut is absolutely delicious. It was a real treat!!!
I won't reveal the incredibly horrible sight underneath this bandage -- While we were in the DR, Babar got bit by another dog. Initially it was only a small cut, but the bacteria seeped in and it spread to be a horendous nightmere that the vet said could have killed a dog with more fat on his body. Babar has a second surgery this afternoon to remove some dead tissue and stitch up some serious raw carnage. I'll keep you all posted. Please keep him in your thoughts. We love you Babar!!! I promise never to yell at you for peeing in our apartment ever again, just come home soon!! :-)
