Tennis

The girls took some tennis lessons in California. Their teacher told me that both girls were very coordinated. We may be a tennis family, especially Leo who talked non-stop about "tennis" and "tennis ball".

Playing Dead

Our little "Lito" (as he likes to call himself) is quite the drama king. Playing dead on any surface, paired with a nice loud high-pitched screech, seems to be his tantrum of choice these days.

Lito Monster Truck

As I browse these photos, Leo is sitting on my lap, repeating over and over, "Lito Monster Truck".  He has many different words for these giant trucks.  Most commonly, he calls them "Mini -tractors", "Bulldo-tractor" (blend of bulldozer and tractor), "Monster Trucks" or just plain "Taxi".

A Day at USC

We spent the day at Mama's old school of USC.  It had been so long that I had no idea even where the bookstore was.  Here is Lulu showing off her latest trick, riding a bike!!!  More pics here.

Ultimate Suburban Day

A huge thank you to the Mullens/Grethels for the best suburban day ever (Westlake Village, CA)!!!!  This was the first time the kids (including Lulu) had ever seen pool toys like this - they were in heaven!!

A Day at Greig Farm

We headed up to the Hudson Valley for a day of blackberry picking at Greig Farm.  It's a 2-hour drive, but this farm is well worth it.  They have a great cafe with delicious food and a little market with lots of goodies.  We picked a huge bucketful of blackberries that have already been turned into sauces and jams.

I like this little sequence of Leo in the blackberry fields.  He was getting grouchy, plunked himself down in the middle of the blackberry orchard and picked up a stick on the ground.  He then started waving it like a light-saver, making "squoosh"ing sounds, as if he was Luke Skywalker.  More pics of the day here.

Lego Land

(and I'm finally up-to-date on all our photos - wahoo!!)

We had a blast celebrating Cousin Eli's 3rd birthday at Lego Land in July!  More photos here.

One of the more notable moments of the day was Nessie getting behind the wheel of a real Lego car.    It's a ride for kids 5 and under (sorry Lulu) and the kids get to drive a small Lego car with an accelerator and steering wheel on a little race track.  Ok, so I admit that I'm not sure how Nessie will do on this -- I'm thinking she could be either really bad and meltdown or be really good.  She started out by turning sideways and crashing her car immediately into the side bumper.  Once she was straightened out again, things clicked in Nessie's brain and she switched into race-car driver mode.  She was full speed, weaving in and out of other cars, leaning around the curve - she had the look of fierce determination.  Hmmm, we should all be very scared...!!!
